Different mediums call for different capabilities. You can’t watch a video unless you’re able to sit down and direct your visual attention to it. Likewise, you can’t read a blog if you aren’t connected to a network and sitting down ready to read it.
Oftentimes people ask, “Why a podcast versus X?”
Why not use video or a blog to get your content out there?
What If You Could Listen To A Blog?
(EntrepreneurOnFire Audio Blog Is Born)
The reason a podcast is a prime choice to get your content out there is the audience filled with listeners who are in the car for 30, 40, 50 minutes at a time; who are going on a run every day and are sick of listening to the same music over and over again; who walk their dog twice – sometimes three times a day – and wish they had something to do other than watch their dog… well, you know.
Listening to a podcast doesn’t require that you not be doing anything else. It also doesn’t require that you be directing your visual attention anywhere, nor does it require that you are connected to a network.
You just download your favorite shows to your iPod or other MP3 device, and you’re all set!
Podcasting offers a unique experience
Plus, podcasting offers an audience something else: the choice to listen to whatever they want, whenever they want. It’s not like the radio, where if you’re still listening to a program when you arrive at work, your choice is to 1) sit in your car until it’s over, or 2) not listen to the rest of it. Podcasts are play when you want, pause when you want, stop when you want.
I’m willing to guess that you didn’t initially land on EntrepreneurOnFire.com because of our blog. Yeah… chances are you stumbled upon the blog after coming here to read show notes about a podcast episode, or to find out more about the tools and resources EntrepreneurOnFire.com has to offer.
But what if – when you landed on this website – you decided the blog was an okay use of your time?
Only trouble is, you happen to be a part of this audience who enjoys consuming audio content, like you do through a podcast; and so sitting down to read a post every day isn’t really your forte. Your time in the car, your daily workouts, your dog walks… not ideal times to be reading blog posts, right?
Finding ways to add value
When I joined the EntrepreneurOnFire team, John and I decided it would be a good idea to start a daily blog. I thought it was a great idea, and even though I knew it might take a while to catch on, I was confident that people would value a blog – even if it wasn’t their #1 reason for coming to the website.
What a great way for people to still consume content from EntrepreneurOnFire, even if they weren’t able to listen to that day’s podcast!
It was only a few days after we had decided to start a blog on EntrepreneurOnFire.com that John came up with the idea to do an Audio Blog, which would allow us to feature each day’s post in iTunes so people could actually listen to our blog. What?!
We get it: You are all very busy with your own businesses, with family, with life. Listening to audio content is one way to consume and learn without having to forfeit everything else you’re doing.
And so, we’re both really excited to announce the launch of the EntrepreneurOnFire Audio Blog, now available in Apple Podcasts for your listening pleasure.
We would love it if you have a few minutes to head on over to iTunes, check out the new Audio Blog, and, if you like what you hear, leave us a 5-star rating and review. Everyone who does will be featured on an upcoming episodes with a personal ‘thank you’ from John.
