Conclusion: it’s doesn’t always work out the way you expected – even if you plan your butt off.
Prioritizing is super important. Without your ONE focus, it’s going to be tough to make any progress towards your goals.
Balancing work and life is a constant; there will never be a time when you’re completely balanced and just get to turn it on auto-pilot.
My #1 piece of advice?
Always give whatever you’re doing right now 100% of your focus. It’ll make your time at work and your time with your family so much more enjoyable, productive, and meaningful.
The un-conventional episode
Now, this isn’t a typical post and episode.
It’s not one that I organized beforehand, or have been planning for weeks, or that I’ve even taken the time to think all the way through.
Not because I don’t have the time (I could have made the time); not because I didn’t want to (believe me, a voice in my head is still screaming for me to be super organized about this); and not because I don’t believe it’s important to organize, plan and think things through.
It’s because this is kind of how my life has been feeling for the past couple of months: unorganized, not fully planned, and as I encounter new stops on my journey I realize there’s a lot I haven’t thought all the way through.
So as an ode to my “right now”, here are some topics and tips that have been on my mind that I hope will be helpful for you on your journey – whether it be your entrepreneurial life, or just your every day life.
Of course, I encourage you to press play above to get my most in-depth thoughts on this stuff:

Reflection: After-the-fact
After listening back to this episode – days after I actually recorded it – I’m seriously questioning how I could have made it better. But I think sometimes the best lessons learned can be found not just through words, but in transparency.
Prioritizing things in both work and life has been a challenge for me recently.
When I want to work on my #1 goal in the business, it seems I’m hit with something that is an “emergency” – something that takes me away from the focus I had established.
And when I’m wanting to unplug and prioritize my self, something comes up in the business that needs to be handled “right now”.
How do you prioritize, and establish some sort of balance with work and life, when nothing seems organized?
How do you prioritize, and establish some sort of balance with work and life, when the unexpected is waiting around every corner?
My current thoughts on the matter:
Always give whatever you’re doing right now 100% of your focus.
Check in with yourself often and be honest with yourself:
- Are you spending your time as wisely as possible?
- Is what you’re working on right now truly making an impact?
- If something appears to be an emergency, take a minute to ask yourself what the true consequences of you not handling it right now are – just to confirm it’s actually an emergency.
I’d love to hear your feedback on this non-conventional, unorganized episode!
