Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: Neuroscience, Storytelling and the Future of Marketing

[1:40] – Tracy shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.

  • Success has nothing to do with where you’re going. It’s in the journey of getting there.

[3:56] – Tracy’s journey that brought him to filmmaking.

  • It all began when he was walking with his then 3 year old daughter along the beach where she was picking up seashells. They kept falling when she’d try to pick up more seashells.
  • If you want the big one, you gotta let go of all the other stuff you have. Your past beliefs and past understandings are holding you back from doing all that you want to do.
  • Many times, people have limiting beliefs that hold them back and cause self-sabotage.

[8:57] – Storytelling is touching our subconscious.

  • No matter what we do, we are selling ourselves as we talk.
  • We speak to the subconscious things that people wanna get involved in. We move them to a point of collaboration.
  • Storytelling is the fundamental basis. It’s how we communicate with each other, even though we may not know we’re doing it.

  • Storytelling is an art, and it is a skill that you develop.
  • Not everything’s going to be high. When you’re telling a story, you want ebbs and tides.

  • Most people have been conditioned to respond to stories or images they like and that they’re familiar with.
  • Most of us have been conditioned to honor commitments, especially those that have confirmed our self-identity.

  • Perceive scarcity. Make it feel like if they don’t do something now, then they’re going to miss out

  • One of the biggest struggles for veterans is that when they get disabled and they come home, most of the time they’re home does not work for them.
