3 Value Bombs
1) The more that you experiment, the more successful you will become. Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks and if it falls off the wall, figure out a way to make it stick.
2) If it is a feeling , we connect but if it’s a thinking, we did not connect.
3) Don’t be afraid to ask the big question because those big questions will lead to big answers and big answers lead to big relationships.

Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: Human Connection-The Baseline to Success and Happiness
[1:10] – Stuart shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
- The more that you experiment, the more successful you will become. Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks and if it falls off the wall, figure out a way to make it stick.
[3:16] – Stuart talks about what is human connection.
- A lot of individuals think they are connecting and they base it on factual evidence like speaking with somebody.
- There’s a big difference between heart to heart connection compared to mind to mind connection. What most people do is share their thoughts and exchanging statistics. The difference between that and true human connection is going one step further and create relationship with people where they exchange feelings and spend time.
- If it is a feeling , we connect but if it’s a thinking, we did not connect.
[4:51] – Stuart talks about what we are aiming for when it comes to connection.
- Ask yourself if the person you are talking to feels interested, excited, important or if they can trust you. The answer should be yes every single time.
- To get to that, you have to aim for five things:
- Ask yourself, am I learning something new?
- Am I making the conversation meaningful to the other person?
- Am I making this conversation memorable?
- Am I asking the person questions that allows us to find what do we have in common?
- Am I asking questions that is allowing this person to have more fun?
- Being the conductor of the conversation, you have the power to move the direction of the conversation.
- If you hit 1-2 of the five questions, you are significantly increasing your chances of that person feeling that you want them to feel as opposed to what you want them to think.

[13:00] – Stuart talks about the difference of powerful conversations and predictable conversations.
- Most people are having predictable conversations and you can raise the game into something that very few people do and that is having powerful conversations.
- A predictable conversation is one where people are being asked questions that they are used to answering. Most people on a daily basis are constantly talking about either the same things to do with work or the weather and repeating the same conversations regarding their children.
- You can connect by asking that person a question that will make him or her answer in a way that will give you a chance to connect in a meaningful way.
- Predictable conversations are conversations that you repeat. Powerful conversation is where you look for an opportunity to take the mundane and turn it into something fascinating.
[16:14] – Stuart talks about how does it impact our professional and personal life.
- The research is there and he is imploring people to take it seriously on a personal level. When you invest with meaningful social ties with people, your blood pressure decreases, your immune system strengthens and you are better to fight diseases and respond to cancer chemotherapy than those without social ties.
- There was a Harvard study that says the feeling of loneliness or lack of human connectionis equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
- If you want to live a longer life and a healthier life, less stress and less mental health challenges, you have to invest in meaningful social relationships.
- On the professional level, the statistics are high in productivity level. When organizations invest in human social connections, they are on average 12x more productive at their jobs.
- In sales, 76% of B2B buyers says their decision to purchase from a vendor was based on the trust built between their working relationships. 73% of the customers believe that this personal connection to the seller plays a vital role in their purchasing decision.
- If you want to raise your game and distinguish yourself from the competition, recognize and ask yourself if you can infuse greater human connection into clients calls, members of your team or your employees.
- Sadly, organizations think of human connection as the least important to do in their organizations.
[19:32] – Stuart tells the three big conversations we need to know and how to create it.
- All of us human beings are onions and we all have layers to peel. They call this onion conversation.
- First thing that is important is always asking good questions on specific things to peel the layers.
- Second is the true story conversation and the no. 1 way to start people to tell their story is to start with the word why into the question. Everybody has a story but not everybody gets the chance to tell them.
- One hack that he gave is to compliment the person first and then ask why so it doesn’t sound like an interrogation. Doing this puts them in a safe space and they will open up and tell their story.
- The third is therapy conversation. We have our good and bad days and no matter how successful we are. One thing that people shy away from conversations is they don’t want to make the person feel bad talking about their difficulties or struggles that they face in business and in life. But these people are just dying to talk about this things and no one gives them a chance to tell it. You become the superstar or the rockstar the moment you let them do it. So see how you can turn your conversation into a therapy conversation.
- Don’t be afraid to ask the big question because those big questions will lead to big answers and big answers lead to big relationships.
[25:33] – Stuart gives his one key takeaway.
- His whole mantra is having meaningful connections with other people but also meaningful connections with yourself. He created the Human Connections Group over the last 2 years and it aims to be the world’s biggest resource for people who is trying to harness the power of human connection whether they want to be successful in business or in their personal life and they want to be a resource for people.
