• She is a child of a deaf adult, and she learned American sign language before she learned how to talk.

[4:27] – A US poll by Gallop in May 2020 revealed out of over 130 million full-time workers, an astonishing 63% of people are disengaged from their careers. Why is that?

• Renee thinks that people are disengaged because they feel undervalued and underpaid based on what they are worth.
• Most of the American workforce lacks the confidence to ask for what they truly want. It’s best to just ask for what you want.
•  Renee also experienced being disengaged with her career in the past, and the EOFire podcasts inspired her!

[10:01] – How can frustrated workers get what they want?

• Renee created 3-Steps for frustrated workers so they can get what they want:

1. Identify all the things that you dislike in your job and write them down.
2. Create a list of what you want and write it down.
3. Evaluate your list from step 2 and identify the 3-5 items that are most important to you – your non-negotiables.

• To ensure that the company fulfills your non-negotiables, you must ask for them specifically during the interview.
  • Interviewing is like dating; you have to re-define the process as a two-way street.
  • If you are disengaged, you have to ask for what you wanted from your company or find a company that will give you what you want.

• You must be confident.
