Lights that spark, Fire Nation. JLD here and welcome to Entrepreneurs On Fire brought to you by the HubSpot Podcast Network with great shows like The Goal Digger Podcast. Today, we'll be sharing how to take your retail business to the next level to drop these value bombs. I brought Laura Dalesme and Allison Beacham into EOFire studios. Laura is the Director of Business Development and Allison is the Director of Marketing at tagr, a new digital pricing solution, serving small businesses. The company is the world leader in smart digital labels and IoT solutions for physical retail, serving over 300 large retailers around the world in Europe, Asia, and America.
0 (44s):
And today Fire Nation, we’ll talk about how to automate your price updates, what the benefits are, how you can get started, the results you might see, and so much more. When we get back from thanking our sponsors, whether you run an existing e-commerce business, a brick and mortar, or you're ready to become an entrepreneur Helium10 can help join over 1 million Helium10 users worldwide by signing up for a free account at Helium10.com/fire. That's Helium10.com/fire. The, my first million podcast features famous guests, discusses how companies made their first million and brainstorm new business ideas based on the hottest trends and opportunities in the marketplace. One recent app was all about how venture capitalists make money.
0 (1m 25s):
Listen to my first million, wherever you get your podcasts. Laura say what's up to Fire Nation and share something that you believe about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
1 (1m 40s):
Hello, Fire Nation. So nice to be with you today. I believe that we don't have one true calling. I don't know if you're familiar with the concept of multi potentiality, but that is something that really resonates with me. And I'm definitely someone who identifies as having, you know, diverse interests. And it took some time to kind of accept that and see that more as a strength to make success today. So I think that, yeah, we don't have one true calling and that's totally okay. And you, you know, build a strength out of all those different interests that you, that you can curate.
0 (2m 20s):
Yes. Fire Nation, multi potentiality is a thing. And I think you need to be very open to that. And I think it's really interesting. It's going to be talking about the story behind tagr and walking you through, you know, how that even came to be. And you can just see that, like, there are so many paths to take in this world, but at the end of the day, it's are you adding value to people? And of course, on this podcast Entrepreneurs On Fire, are you adding value to entrepreneurs and business men and business women? And as I mentioned, the introduction, we also have Allison who is on the mic. We'll be hearing from her in a second, which should be really cool, but Laura, do you want to stay with you to start with the story behind tagr, take it away.
1 (2m 58s):
Tiger is a direct response to some trends that we've been seeing in the retail sector. Tagore's a brand that is under the umbrella of SCSC mega tag and SCSC MagnaTech has been, you know, serving large, big box brick and mortar retailers for the last 25 years. And we, you know, have observed over time, some trends. And some of them obviously are heightened with the pandemic situation at the moment, but Tagore is really trying to encompass that and bring a solution to small business owners where they can benefit from the same technology that, you know, larger brick and mortar retailers are looking into and using, but bringing them to them in a way that is a lot more user-friendly faster to set up and that answers to their specific needs.
1 (3m 53s):
So some of you know, the trends that we've noticed and that you can probably identify with, if you're running a retail business today, is that customer and employee engagement are really becoming very centric to how you have to
0 (4m 7s):
Think about your business model. And the key point there is really trying to deepen trust with your customers. The second one, and obviously this is something that's been going on for awhile is embracing the digital world and really looking at ways to automate a lot of tasks that you have to perform in your small business every day, where you don't have a lot of added value. So you can automate them to then free up some of your time. And the last trend in which is really an important one is that contactless service is here to stay. You know, it's definitely something that the pandemic has brought front and center to the stage, but we definitely see it staying. And so tagr is taking all of that and bringing a solution to you where you can spend less time updating your prices in your store by using digital tags that will update in real time with all of the product information that you need to create that trust with your customers, to automate your processes and spend less time on changing price tags, which is, you know, high labor costs.
0 (5m 10s):
And then finally providing that contact list service to your customers. So I love that in Fire Nation. I think as you can see, when you can create not just a solution, but the best solution to a real problem in this world, you are going to win. So Allison, what would you like to add to Laura's breakdown
2 (5m 31s):
Tagr? There's a direct response to us hearing what small business owners are looking for, and they are looking for saving time, spending more time with their customers instead of worth the pricing. I mean, there's, there's a lot of things that small businesses need, but they want to streamline their processes and really focus on what matters most, which is absolutely their, their passion behind what they're selling, what they're working on and being able to do that and letting tagr kind of like take care of the rest of their pricing needs. That's kind of, that is in a nutshell what Tagore is trying to do.
2 (6m 11s):
It's trying to be a solution that really saves you time and allows you to spend that time
0 (6m 17s):
And Fire Nation. Obviously this is a audio only podcast, but I did get to go through a tagrs explainer video, which is really cool. And the visual really shows you in a cool way. Exactly. You know, what it means to automate your price updates. And Laura you've actually mentioned some of the benefits and like what the actual process is and what it means to, to do these price updates. But let's dive a little bit deeper. So share with us a little bit more about this, the benefits, and specifically let's get into how somebody like our listeners Fire Nation could use tagr in their retail business.
1 (6m 49s):
Absolutely. So tagr comes, you know, in a self-install solution. So the idea is that it comes into kit where you have everything that you would need to get started with replacing your paper tags with digital ones. So this is what we call the tagr discovery kit. That includes a small little access points, which you would be linking up to your, you know, standard power outlet in your store, and then into an ethernet cable. Once you've done that, you just turn it on it's as easy as that you had to, you know, you'll have a setup guide that will walk you through those few steps and then it's all happening via mobile app. So here we've, you know, tried to make it as seamless as possible for you.
1 (7m 31s):
You download this app, you would just, you know, create an account and then you're actually entering the credentials of your POS system. So whether you're using fans, Lightspeed square Clover, you would be able to just connect with that same account that you have with your POS vendor. And then the app will just retrieve in real time, all of your products that you've listed and that you've entered in your POS system. And from there, you can select a product that you would like to match to a tag. So you would then actually physically take a tag from your kit, place it in front of the product, take a photo of the little ID code that's on the tag.
1 (8m 11s):
And then that's linked to that product. And in about one to two minutes, you would see all of the product information show up on that tag, whether that's your price, your product reference, a customer reviews, a QR code, anything that you'd like to put on there, we're able to display through the
2 (8m 29s):
App. It's a,
0 (8m 31s):
We like smart tags, Fire Nation, because guess what? When the tag smart, that means that we can kind of free up our time, our energy, our mental bandwidth, to do other things. And as entrepreneurs, we want to be doing other things we want to be thinking about other ideas. We need to be thinking about other opportunities that we can dive into. And we have so much more on this topic. And more when we get back from thanking our sponsors, your experiences, everything, when it comes to building and scaling your business and with multiple customers on board, your marketing team likely has conflicting priorities to juggle. Unfortunately, this means that customer oriented tasks can often fall through the cracks. But what if you had a system that allowed you to bring your customer's experiences to the forefront so that your marketing team isn't stuck in the weeds of operations and can instead focus on building targeted, meaningful campaigns, start giving your customers what they deserve.

And we love it. Join over 1 million Helium10 users worldwide by signing up for a free account at Helium10.com/fire. That's Helium10.com/fire. So Laura, I'll have you start with this one, but I'd love to maybe get a good one from Allison as well. So Allison, you can kind of be thinking in the background about my next question, which is maybe a case study or two of how Tagore was used effectively in a business, like maybe think about a business or two that you guys have worked with or seen use tagr in a really cool way, and really talk about how they did this. So we can kind of think and see this in action.
1 (11m 24s):
One that really comes to mind is a camera shop that we worked with in Brooklyn, just, you know, a few months ago. And they've equipped all of their cameras in stores with a little digital price tag in front of them. And something really cool that they're able to do is to actually list on their tag, a lot of the product specs. So when you're looking, you know, at higher ticket items, you want to be able to give your customers more than just a price and a product reference. You want to be able to give them information on, you know, what are the different technical specifications. And if you don't have enough room on that tag, because you know, you are limited, you can even add a little QR code and that's what they did.
1 (12m 6s):
Then your customer with their smartphone can scan this QR code and they get redirected to your online shop, where they can either decide to purchase it, have it delivered at their home, or they can have access to, you know, other information that you're sharing on there, whether it's videos, customer reviews, anything that will help them with that purchase.
2 (12m 28s):
John, I'd like to just point out something that Laura had kind of mentioned twice there. She mentioned something really cool about tagrs pricing, pricing options. It's not just the price on the tag. You can talk about the product specs. You can have reviews on the specs. And I think that's really cool because if you're a store owner and you're talking to one customer and somebody else walks in, they can still be understanding what's on the shelves and kind of learning about your product offering while you're helping somebody else. And then if they are scanning that QR code, that information is on their phone and it's going to stay there. And the next time they go and open up their web browser and they see their phone has saved this information.
2 (13m 8s):
It might put an idea in their head to go back to the camera store, check it out again. I mean, it's a really cool kind of lead generation process as well. So it's almost like you've got your sys tag selling for you,
0 (13m 20s):
Fire Nation. You need to be asking yourself questions like how can I create a better user experience? How can I create a more seamless experience? How can I become interwoven into my customers and clients lives just like Allison just shared in that example, I mean, it just makes so much sense. So Laura, how would anybody even get started with this?
1 (13m 41s):
So it's super simple. We've created, you know, an online shop where you would go, this is tiger.shop, and you can then on their order, this discovery kit that we've been talking about, we've made this a free trial. So meaning that you can order it. You're not going to pay anything upfront. You get it for 30 days to actually test it out in your store. The discovery kit would come with 20 smaller tags and then two of our larger size tags, usually the larger size tags, you know, you'll use in front of larger ticket items, like the example of the camera store I gave, or if you're running special promotions in your store. And you know, once you've just received the kit and you've installed it, you have 30 days to play around with it.
1 (14m 24s):
And if you decide that, you know, this makes sense for you and you're really seeing the return, then you can go back to our tagr.shop, online store and purchase more tags. You know, as you go to equip more and more products in your store,
2 (14m 38s):
Tagr can grow with you. You know, you get your kit and it comes with a bunch of different sizes and options for your store. But really, you know, we don't expect the discovery kit to be everything that you would need. We want you to customize experience. Every small business owner has different needs. And so there's plenty of options on our website for you to get exactly what you need that fits your product and make it really work for you and your, and your business,
0 (15m 5s):
Or take the mic. And then we'll hand it over to Allison as well. But I want you to share exactly the one key takeaway from everything we talked about here today that you really want to make sure a Fire Nation gets that are business owners that are entrepreneurs, that they really understands from this entire conversation that we've had here today,
1 (15m 26s):
Boiling it down. Tagr really comes to how can you make that in store experience for your customers seamless and how can you save your time or your employees time so that they can focus on what's, you know, mattering for your bottom line, which is making those sales and being able to provide that service to your customers and obviously changing paper, price tags, making sure the prices are correct, that you've updated them in real time to reflect your discounts is not where you're spending, you know, the making the best use of your time. So tagr really comes down to freeing up your time so that you can spend it on what matters running your business and being able to provide that quality service to your customers.
2 (16m 13s):
Allison, the DIY mentality is really all over tagrs emo. What, what we are all about is that it's, it's customizable for your business. It's easy to install. It's something that you can grow with over time. It works with your current POS system and it does free up your time to spend it elsewhere because small business owners multitask. And that is exactly what we want to continue to help them.
0 (16m 39s):
I love that message. And Laura, where would Fire Nation go to learn more? I mean, tagr Fire Nation, just FYI, T A G R. tagr. What link? Where do you want foundation to connect with this brand? What does that next step?
1 (16m 56s):
The next step Fire Nation would be to visit our online store at tagr.shop, where you can start your 30 day free trial today.
0 (17m 6s):
