3 Value Bombs
1) Efficiency is one of the main drivers in being successful. You can make your business as powerful as it is without changing much by understanding what you do and how you do it.
2) How we’ve always done it is not a good answer, we should do things the way we do it because it is the most efficient and the most optimal base on the resources and time. Efficiency makes a lot of things easier and better for everybody.
3) You have the responsibility to not only provide the service but also to educate your customers.

Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: Optimizing Efficiency in Your Business
[1:13] – Kirby shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
- Every disappointment or failure you experience is an opportunity to enhance and be better in whatever you are doing.
[2:30] – Kirby talks about the importance of efficiency when it comes to running a successful biz.
- Efficiency is one of the main drivers in being successful. People do it unconsciously everyday and what he does is to raise awareness for it by saying that you can make your business as powerful as it is without changing much by understanding what you do and how you do it.
[3:11] – Kirby talks about real world examples of some of the inefficiencies he faced in his biz.
- There was a time when he worked for someone and 90% of what he was doing is filling out forms in excel which had nothing to do with his actual job of selling stuff and doing deals. He thought that was being inefficient because that thing was not what he was being paid to do.
- What he learned in the cleaning industry and other industries was “we do things because that’s how we’ve always done it”. How we’ve always done it is not a good answer, we should do things the way we do it because it is the most efficient and the most optimal base on the resources and time. Efficiency makes a lot of things easier and better for everybody.
[4:42] – Kirby tells how he fix the issues of inefficiency.
- Basically, he is building a thing that fixes how people get cleaning service. Customers don’t just answer the questions what they needed to be cleaned and how much will be the cost because what they want is to experience what they need.
- What he learned was to understand why customers are like that and he consolidated it into a workflow where he can literally push a button and tell his customers how much it cost to clean the place and gave them the decision whether they want the service or not. The main idea is to make the flow a lot easier.
[6:36] – Kirby talks about the first steps to modernizing a commercial cleaning operation today.
- The first step is to understand your strengths. Some companies are good and efficient in cleaning but not in the other elements of their business (e.g. invoicing, billing for the service, hold the client accountable). You have to identify first what you are good at and what are the things that you can automate or streamline to improve so you can be more focused on the skill that you are good at.
[8:23] – Kirby answers if a new commercial cleaning company can succeed.
- Yes, it can because cleaning services is relationship driver. People want something that is familiar to them. If you are hardworking and you take good care of your customers and your people, you absolutely have an opportunity as a new company.

[13:00] – Kirby talks about how to assess if your cleaning operations are competitive and effective.
- Understand where your strengths are and where do you need to improve. Being a well-rounded cleaning environment is pivotal. Developing relationships and keeping your resources close to you can scale your business organically.
- It is applicable to any business. If you provide the quality service that people want and that solve their real problems, your business will sell itself.
[14:19] – Kirby talks about talk dolla dolla bills and what are the primary revenue drivers in the commercial cleaning industry.
- You have the responsibility to not only provide the service but also to educate your customers. The problem with cleaning is there is the perception that having the cheapest price (money space) is the most important revenue driver but it is actually the resource space that is the most competitive revenue driver.
[16:19] – Kirby talks about AI and the potential for automating aspects of cleaning services, including the use of robotic cleaning devices and automated service scheduling.
- Ai is most useful as a supplement in your business by helping you make the right decisions through the data that is gathered. For example, using it to schedule a cleaning date with the less conflict.
[17:48] – Kirby gives his final take way.
- Don’t ever let anybody tell that what you are trying to achieve is not worth trying to achieve. Never let anybody tell you no. Set your mind on your goal and have a tunnel vision and perseverance and you will have a good road ahead.
