3 Value Bombs
1) Most people think you become successful by what you do , however, how you act determines your success. It is how you did it and how you make people feel.
2) Shoveling is represented by the willingness to embrace the messy, unglorious type of work that every founder has to do.
3) You can be knocked up a thousand times as an entrepreneur but if you start to get back up and start shoveling you can still succeed.

Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: Shoveling $h!t: A Love Story About the Hard Lessons Learned From the Messy Path to Success.
[1:38] – Mike shares one personal habit that contributed most to this success.
- Most people think you become successful by what you do , however, how you act determines your success. It is how you did it and how you make people feel. Doing that everyday compounds and generates incredible returns. In the end, you will be remembered not by what you did but how you act everyday that will generate a legacy.
[2:52] – Kass shares her personal habit that contributed to her success.
- It is her radical responsiveness. The idea that if you are working with a group of people, you will be responsive and not be the bottleneck. There are founders who become the biggest problem in the company when they are not getting back to people.
- She makes it a point to be responsive even if it means staying up late in answering emails and pushing things forward.
[4:09] – Mike picks one the favorite 6 questions and talks about it.
- That is how many customers are there and how big is the market. You have to focus on the stuff that has a big market, however you may define it according to your business. You need to be true to the market and be true to yourself.
[5:37] – Kass shares her favourite question.
- Its about marketing and how you take your product and service to reach your customers. This is a forgotten point with founders and often times they underestimate the money and effort that they have to make. Make sure to emphasize it to the founders and it is well thought of.
[6:23] – Kass talks about “An entrepreneur who loves to shovel is unstoppable” and what kinds of things does that shovel need to do.
- Shoveling is represented by the willingness to embrace the messy, unglorious type of work that every founder has to do. Literally, it is the grind that every single founder has to do that make their head spin in their work everyday.
[7:21] – Mike adds to this.
- Shoveling is showing up to the office and having no idea what’s going to happen.
- The best entrepreneurs learned to do the work that are hard and come up with a solution. They are the ones who succeed.
- You have to commit and realized that there is suffering and struggle in the process. You will find your purpose and you will love it and that is where success comes from.

[11:58] – Mike talks about when to pivot our business model.
- You have to hyperfocus on your vision when you start the business and then it comes down to what are the 6 things that you need to do to be successful to reach the vision and measure it.
- Often times you pivot because nothing is happening after you have set up all your plans.
- It starts deep inside you, you have an intuition or a gut feeling that something is not working or there is an opportunity somewhere else that you need to focus on. Your gut is right because its like the subsconcious processing of all the structured and non structured data around you.
- Tune in to your gut and see if you need to make a decision.
[14:08] – Kass adds to this.
- The projections and financial model are the exact tool that you can measure yourself against if you are hitting the milestone and goals of your business.
- It is not only the feeling that you need to pivot but also looking at the actual business model if you are hitting your goals that will be the indicator.
[15:13] – Kass shares a failure she experienced in her career and the lessons she learned from it.
- The biggest failure they had was selling golf.com to another company who later ran out of money. The lessons they learned was they did not listen to their gut enough on the deal structure and they didn’t do due diligence. They started shoveling and got back on the road and started the company all over.
- You can be knocked up a thousand times as an entrepreneur but if you start to get back up and start shoveling you can still succeed.
[17:15] – Mike shares his failure.
- He applied for 5 colleges to be a journalist. He got rejected by 4 but if realized if he didn’t get rejected, he will not take the path of starting his own company.
- Rejection is a blessing in disguise, it hurts but in his life it has been a blessing and has put him in a new direction to success.
[19:33] – Mike talks about his book Shoveling $h!t: A Love Story and his call to action.
- This book is their love story to all entrepreneurs. It is designed to revolutionized how you approach entrepreneurship.
- It has all the Chi codes that they picked up for the last 30 years, putting out all the lessons that have been a game changer for them and gave them the strategy to build successful businesses.
- It is your blueprint to make it happen.
- The release of the book is on June 2025 but if you buy it today, you can get access to 2 chapters of the book. Check it out on their website Shoveling $h!t.
