[1:23]– Jonah shares some things he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.

• He believes that success boils down to performing the right actions consistently over time. While this sounds simple, it is not necessarily easy to do. Many people fail because they choose not to take consistent action.

[2:16] – How did you discover your passion?

• Jonah grew up in landlocked Atlanta, Georgia, far from the ocean. At age 12, during a family vacation to the Gulf of Mexico, he was given a surf lesson.

• Despite no one in his family having surfed before, Jonah caught his first wave and became instantly hooked on surfing and the ocean.

• A year later, he was given an underwater camera, which he took a liking to. For the past 18 years, Jonah has dedicated his life to mastering the art of capturing water and light through photography, discovering his passion at a young age through fortunate exposure to the ocean and photography.

[4:14] – What were the biggest challenges you faced when turning your passion into a sustainable business?

• Building a business has its challenges, like rejection and failure. The toughest part was feeling stuck between who you were and who you wanted to be.
• Jonah learned key principles that changed everything.
  1. Clarity: define your vision across all aspects of life.
  2. Belief: cultivate confidence in your ability to achieve your dreams.
  3. Commitment: fully dedicate yourself to your passion, cutting off other options.

5. Connecting with people: Connect with those who already earning from their passion, seek guidance from coaches, mentors, and consultants, and join masterminds
   • The only way you can change is if you learn. “The only way you can learn is if you are exposed. And the only way you can become exposed is if you throw yourself out into the open.” This quote highlights the importance of learning from those who have achieved what you aspire to do.

[16:01] – How does being attacked by shark surfing relate to entrepreneurship?

• In 2019, Jonah was surfing in the Gulf of Mexico during a chilly morning at sunrise, with temperatures around 33 degrees. He was accompanied by a friend. About 30 minutes into their surf session, Jonah experienced a powerful force hitting him. It turned out to be a shark striking his surfboard, leaving him with no doubt about what had happened.
• He was lying on his board when he felt the impact. Luckily, he had lifted his feet, so the shark only hit the bottom of the board near the tail. It held on for just a few seconds before letting go. He quickly paddled to shore, shaken but unharmed. Despite his fear, he knew he had to get back into the ocean or risk letting fear control him. He returned to the water, only to find himself in the same spot where the shark had struck. His leash broke, leaving him floating vulnerably.
• This experience taught him the importance of persistence and not giving up on his passion, even in the face of fear. It is a reminder that success often comes from perseverance and resilience.

[20:15] – Jonah talks about the art plays a vital role in enhancing your daily lives and living spaces.

• Changing your environment, including your home space, can significantly impact your mood and emotional state.

• Over time, Jonah’s art gained popularity, and clients began requesting custom pieces.
• Initially hesitant due to limited capacity and lack of enjoyment in the process, everything changed when John suggested a new approach. Instead of crafting art solely based on his narrative, Jonah began creating pieces that reflected the stories of his clients.
• This idea transformed his work into a collaborative journey, where clients are intimately involved in the creation process, resulting in personalized artworks that capture their unique stories.
