3 Value Bombs
1) Anytime we set out to do something in life, we’re going to have some thoughts about it. Some of those thoughts are helpful, but a lot of them are not helpful.
2) When we treat the mind, we go and journal and we analyze our thoughts, we try and figure out thoughts out. We might try and be grateful. We try and take a negative thought and push it away by replacing it with a positive thought.
3) Cultivate and build a map of safety, learning to recognize what safety looks like, knowing what it feels like, because then as we start to get a grip on that, then our system don’t need to be so stressed all the time.

- When we treat the mind, we go and journal and we analyze our thoughts, we try and figure out thoughts out. We might try and be grateful. We try and take a negative thought and push it away by replacing it with a positive thought.

[10:45] – The root issue with a busy mind.
- The root issue is Nervous system dysregulation.
- When we get stressed, we might try and attack the threat. When we get shut down, we start to disconnect. We can’t feel anything. We feel numb.
- There’s another response called the form response, which is when we’re feeling stressed, we might go into people pleasing mode.
- Nervous system dysregulation is when we’re getting stuck instead of being able to flow between all these different states as the situation demands.
[14:22] – Fixing the nervous system dysregulation.
- We’re trying to lay out the map of the area that we’re trying to cover. The map is so much more detailed and just so much more effective than a lot of the other maps that people throw around, like the gratitude list and meditation.
- Learn to be in the body, learn to be present and not just silent like we might in meditation.
- Learn to recognize what safety is. It’s not about saying I’m safe, it’s about looking around and orienting to the safety and the environment.
- Cultivate and build a map of safety, learning to recognize what safety looks like, knowing what it feels like, because then as we start to get a grip on that, then our system don’t need to be so stressed all the time.
- Look around, feel the ground and notice your breath.
