1) Artificial intelligence is trained to analyze content that already exists and try to put together answers to what we’re asking it for.
2) Everything that AI is creating is a derivative, some mutation of something that’s already been created.
3) AI can shortcut a lot of those processes and help people who would otherwise be paid to operate.

Light that Spark Fire Nation, JLD here. And welcome to Entrepreneurs on Fire, brought to you by the HubSpot Podcast Network. With great shows like Duct Tape Marketing. Today we'll be breaking down how AI will dramatically affect your business in the future. To drop these value bombs, I have brought Joel Comm and EOFire Studios. Joel is an internet pioneer, a New York Times bestselling author of 15 books in-demand, speaker and strategist. He is co-host of two popular cryptocurrency and blockchain podcasts and has personally minted over 1.5 million NFTs. Today we'll be talking about what exactly artificial intelligence is, how businesses can use ai.
0 (42s):
We'll talk about the tools that he's been playing around with. Joel loves to test different things and specifically what industries will be changed by AI and so much more. And a big thank you for sponsoring today's episode goes to Joel and our sponsors. Outbound Squad, hosted by Jason Bay is brought to you by the HubSpot Podcast Network, the audio destination for business professionals. Tune in for convos with leading sales experts and top performing reps to help you land more meetings with your ideal clients. One of my faves, The Monthly app with Jason Ethan, where they share hacks, tips and tricks. Listen to Outbound Squad wherever you get your podcasts. What's up Joel? Why don't you say hello to Fire Nation and let us know what you're excited about talking about here today.
1 (1m 28s):
I'm really happy to be on the show again and I'm super excited about the world of AI and what it means for people in business. Whether you're looking to create content like articles or images really fast or you want tools to help you be more efficient or effective in your work, artificial intelligence is a complete game changer.
0 (1m 47s):
Joel, I'm glad to hear that. But listen, my man, this is the fifth time you've been an entrepreneurs on fire and you're actually sounding a little nervous. Is everything okay over there?
1 (1m 58s):
Yeah, I'm fine. So you know what you just heard, there may or may not have been me actually speaking you, you may have just been AIed right there, JLD.
0 (2m 9s):
It's crazy because we are living in a world now where you can reproduce things at such an amazing level that things are gonna get kinda scary with deep fakes and some of the things along those lines. And that's why I brought Joel on here today, fire Nation. Cause we're gonna be talking about how AI will dramatically affect your business in the future. And if you think that even sounded a little bit like Joel and obviously it sounded a lot like Joel just not quite as fluid and laid back and jazzy as he usually sounds, just wait, literally not years, not months, but weeks. It's crazy how fast AI improves itself. It's, it's really crazy. And that's what we're talking about here today.
0 (2m 50s):
So Joel, my man, what the heck is artificial intelligence? Let's just start there.
1 (2m 57s):
Well, I mean in its purest form, it is computer generated content or programming that uses what we already know to exist, right? Whether it's content that's on the web, whether it's people speaking, whether it's images, and the artificial intelligence is trained to analyze that content that already exists and try to put together answers to what we're asking it for. So, you know, if you're creating an article for instance, and you go to a tool that undoubtedly most people have heard of by now called Chat, G p t, it basically you can ask a question and unlike Google that returns a search result with pages chat, G p t gives you the content directly.
1 (3m 47s):
For example, I just went in right now and I typed, how will AI be used by podcasters? And it wrote me up five bullet points in about 10 seconds. It said transcription AI can automatically transcribe audio files, making it easier for listeners to follow along and for search engines to index the content, content generation, audio processing, personalization, voice recognition, it did all of these wow. And gave, you know, a short bullet point. And so this artificial intelligence is not a real person answering you. It is truly artificial. It is, you know, the bots. This is why we have to use it now to our advantage before we go full Terminator,
0 (4m 26s):
Full terminator. And that's kinda what I wanna move into next. You just like shared an actual case study like right there. Like if Fire Nation you have a question about something, ask chat G p t the question and it will come back with a very intelligent and sometimes creepily intelligent answer. So what are some ways that you're seeing businesses using AI today and what are some ways that you're kind of foreseeing businesses implementing this in the short term?
1 (4m 55s):
Well, you know, the immediate thing is content creation, right? There's a lot of us out there that have been creating content online and you know, finding writers really quality writers to, to create that content can be timely, can sometimes be expensive. And I hate to, you know, say this to the content creators of the world, but if you are not excellent at what you do, then you may soon be out of a job. Because I can go and ask chat g p t to write me a thousand World Word article on any subject and have it fine tune it to be exactly what I want it to do. In fact, I've been doing that with my site world village.com.
1 (5m 35s):
I've been going in and just asking chat g p t to write me fresh original content on a subject and then I put it up on my website. And that's just, that's just one. Then we get into the area of image design and AI is completely changing the art world. Again, if you are not on the high end of the bell curve of what, what you are producing as an artist, as a photographer, the AI tools that now exist can create for, for me in minutes something that I will never be able to generate on my own in a lifetime. Cuz I just don't have the skills. And that is, that's just the tip of the iceberg when we're talking about content.
0 (6m 18s):
I hope you're really having that sink in Fire nation because it's such a key phrase that Joel use. If you are not literally the best of the best in what you do, you're in trouble because people are going to just say, Hey, why am I gonna go and get some good to really good content that I'm having to pay somebody to create? And probably it's gonna take time and back and forth and energy and effort when I can just use a tool that's ai, like a chat g p t and have it create something that's really good and probably only gonna get better the more that I use it and learn how to utilize it. And just of course, how AI exponentially improves itself over time. Like, share some things on the visual side, like the artistic side of things, like the graphic design, Joel, like when you and I, you know, were hanging out the other day and you were showing me some things like image wise, I was like, that is crazy.
1 (7m 9s):
If you go to mid journey.com, it will lead you to their Discord server where you can try it out for free. But anybody can go in there and all you do is you type in the, the newbie channels slash imagine and then you type whatever you want, you know, so I'm, I'm looking at it right now. And a guy typed a big rabbit that kills a giant carrot, but the rabbit is being eaten by the wolf behind him in a 4K realistic galaxy. And I'm looking at the images that this thing created in less than 60 seconds. And they're amazing.
1 (7m 49s):
And so, you know, the art world is being turned on its head. And you could certainly, you know, ask the question, well if, if it's not being created by a human being, is it art? But you have to realize that everything that AI is creating is a derivative, some permutation of something that's already been created. And for somebody to look at this art that AI is creating, you would think that a very talented, extremely talented human being did it. And so anybody can go try this out. Just go to mid journey.com, join the Discord, jump into one of the newcomer rooms, and just imagine you're, you're literally doing that slash imagine and then type something and watch what it does.
1 (8m 33s):
And once it does it, you could say, oh, it gave me four images that are examples. And I can pick one of 'em and say, this is kinda what I was going for. Give me four more derivatives based on this one I selected. And when you're done, you can say, give me a high resolution image and now that's yours. You own it, you can do what you want with
0 (8m 52s):
It. I'm on this page right now. And some of this artwork is shocking. And then what's even more fascinating is, like you said, when you hover over the image, it gives you the words that the person input and you're just like, holy crap. Like it gave so little to this, you know, mid journey and the mid journey gave it back so much.
1 (9m 11s):
And now what we're seeing is the skills that are being developed are those who understand how to feed the ai the right terminology to get the best results. So that in itself is becoming a marketable skill. Those who understand how to leverage and use these AI tools so that it brings back its best. And I gotta tell you this, I went to chat G p t and I said, write me a short poem about John Lee Dumas. No way. And the Entrepreneur On Fire Podcast. You ready?
0 (9m 41s):
I'm ready. Oh,
1 (9m 42s):
I'm ready. It's, it's three stanzas. It, it wrote it in about 15 seconds. John Lee Dumas, a force to be known entrepreneur on fire, a podcast. He's shown inspiration and tips he shares with all guiding the way he helps businesses stand tall with guests of note, he'll take you to the top sharing stories of success and never a flop, a wealth of knowledge for the business mind. John Lee Dumas, truly one of a kind. So tune in each day and learn from the best Entrepreneur on Fire will put your business to the test with passion and drive. You'll reach new heights thanks to John Lee Dumas and his entrepreneurial insights.
0 (10m 19s):
Oh my God, I wanna hang that on my wall right now. I
1 (10m 23s):
I will screenshot this and send it to you. And it, it wrote, it just, all I said is write me a short poem about John Lee Douma and The Entrepreneur on Fire Podcast. And that's what came out. And you could do it again and it'll give you another response. Or you could say, you, I could now go in there and tell ai do it in a Shakespearean flair.
0 (10m 46s):
Now I'm guessing that it's taking some time to just scour the internet real quick for some basic not information about it. Is that kind of the premise? Yeah,
1 (10m 54s):
It's, it's basically already got the information, I think up through the end of 2021. They scoured the entire web. And so, you know, it's, it doesn't mean it's always gonna be accurate, but what they have determined is that AI can pass the bar. They have already demonstrated that AI knows enough that it can pass the bar. And so what does this mean for education? What does this mean for, you know, what do we need to actually know? You know, can people fake their way to the top with AI more than ever? And how do we watch out for that to make sure that the people we are engaging with our real people, cuz that is gonna be a problem, right?
1 (11m 40s):
And that they're truly qualified to do the work that we've asked them to do.
0 (11m 46s):
I mean, just imagine that voice that we shared at the beginning that was Joel was just a little bit better, a little bit more believable, but, you know, at the same, same time, doesn't have to be that much more. Cuz imagine like my mother, you know, who's 71 years old and she gets a quote unquote phone call and the person on the other end, it's my voice. But, you know, maybe it's a little dissonance, a little scratchy because you know, I'm mom, you know, like the audio might not be great because, you know, I, I'm, I'm, I'm in trouble right now and I'm having to use this, you know, kind of crazy phone. But you need to help. I mean, like, that's scary because like, it was sounds, it sounds just like you, it just doesn't sound, you know, really as flowy as you are,
1 (12m 24s):
It's gonna get better and
0 (12m 26s):
It's gonna get
1 (12m 26s):
Better really quickly. Not like, not tomorrow, but in a few weeks they will, they're algorithms are gonna continue to be adjusted and fine tuned.
0 (12m 36s):
And you gotta be nervous about this in way Fire Nation. I mean, you, you wanna be, you know, adopting this and getting excited about it too. Cause there's some great uses for it, but you wanna be prepared as well. Like, it really just takes me back to when I was a kid, my, my, my parents always said, Hey, if somebody comes to pick you up, that's not us from school, there's a key word. And there was a key word. It was my favorite stuffed animal's name. They had to say that word. And that meant that my parents okayed that. And I knew that if anybody came to pick me up, they didn't know that key word that they can, I was not gonna get into that car, you know, of course like the stranger danger idea. And so that's, to me, it's like you need to have conversations, fire nation, like with your parents, with your grandparents, with your kids that like, if they ever get a phone call or, or communicated and it sounds a lot like them.
0 (13m 22s):
Like there needs to be a question that you ask in that, right? Obviously that you know, Chat GPT or whatever, you know, that that voice coming back will not know exactly what that answer is if you, so just like some food for thought. But you know, we're not going overboard in the scary train here. But you gotta be smart. You've gotta, you know, understand there's both pros and cons and scary things and amazing things are gonna be used with this. And we're gonna be talking about something you have no idea by nation. You couldn't guess the topic. I promise you, when we get back from thanking our sponsors,

So, Joel, we're back and as I promised before the break, fire Nation was gonna have no idea what topic we were gonna talk about cuz it's, it's a, it's off topic and you have no idea what we're talking about
1 (16m 6s):
Here. I'm not sure I know. So, it's spring on me. Let's go.
0 (16m 9s):
You moved to Palm del Mar two years ago and you know, we've, we've been friends for eight years but obviously our friendship's grown over the past two years cause’ of our neighborhood ness. Now talk to me about your latest obsession with pickleball.
1 (16m 24s):
Oh, I did not see that coming, right? I love pickleball. In fact, my new Carbon two paddle arrived today and I thought of you cuz you're the one who recommended that I, I buy it and I don't know what day we're airing, but just this very day I went out with our local Frankie Farina and he did some drills with me so I could, you know, understand a little bit better. And I'm playing like five days a week now. I love the game. It's, you are, you know, it's something that, you know, look, I'm a I'm an overweight past middle-aged man and you know, the knees don't hold up like they used to and there's a lot of things that athletically I can't do or, you know, would hurt to do.
1 (17m 5s):
And this is something that gets me out there every day, running around for an hour and having a really good time.
0 (17m 11s):
But you can in r becoming a terror on the pickleball court, which is part of the beauty of the sport is, you know, you need a lot of skills that don't necessarily involve like having to run, you know, 11 miles, which is what the average soccer player runs during the match, right? So pickleball is great for so many reasons. I know there's some listeners that love the sport. I actually have had a, a, a awesome listener for years who wanted to start a podcast inspired by entrepreneurs on fire called Shockingly Pickleball on Fire. And I, of course I gave her my blessing and, and I was guested on the show cuz you know, I loved the conversation around pickleball and it was a lot of fun.
0 (17m 54s):
And I hope you use Michael O'Neill's promo code for that carbon.
1 (17m 58s):
I did, I saved 15% to using promo code solo hour. So, and it shipped quickly. You know, things come to Puerto Rico a little slower, but that paddle came really quickly. Yeah, so, so I'm excited about it. I wonder what AI would've to say about pickleball. I bet it can write all kinds of interesting stuff.
0 (18m 14s):
Funny. That'd be awesome. We'll, we'll figure that out sooner than later. One, one thing I think you're gonna love about that paddle, and you might have already experienced it today with your lessons with Frankie, is it's just got this grip on it that you can actually really use to control the ball and the paddle a lot more. Like, that's one thing I love about the Carbon, so I hope you get to utilize that. But I do wanna shift back because we talked about chat G P t, we did talk about Mid Journey. What are some other tools you're having some fun playing around with?
1 (18m 43s):
There's so many and they're popping up every day. If you go to ai telegraph.io, this is a great site to bookmark. And not only are they using AI to create content, but for example, the the owner said, write me a a a new Beatle song using ai. And it wrote the lyrics to a song called Here Comes the Sunflower. That's very Beatle esque. And there's list of tools here, for example, here are some of the things you can do. You can use Clean Voice John, that will automatically edit your podcast episodes using AI for you. You can use Beethoven and it will create unique royalty free music for you on the fly.
1 (19m 30s):
If you use copy monkey.ai, it will create your Amazon listings for stuff you wanna sell on the Amazon market in, in just seconds. And this is now expanded to video. There's one, there's several video sites. One of 'em is called Video, V I D Y O. You can make short-term videos from existing long form content. This is just the beginning. There's so many uses. And now that the AI Genie is out of the bottle and people understand how these tools can be used, we're going to see as many different, you know, uses for ai. I just ran across this one right now. Crisp removes background voices from calls.
1 (20m 12s):
Oh, so let's say there's noise behind you and you want to use that recording, but you wanna get rid of the background. Apparently this will do
0 (20m 18s):
It. What about when Gus barks?
1 (20m 20s):
I would call that background noise. He just wants to be on the show. Come on.
0 (20m 26s):
No, and people like it. I leave it in. There're just like, oh, I heard Gus the other day. I'm like, yeah, you did because I didn't take it out.
1 (20m 31s):
It's a gu
0 (20m 32s):
Spotting. That's when our UPS driver shows up that time every day. So one thing I really wanna dive a little deeper into on the last topic of our conversation is the industries that will be changed. We talked about how graphic design, about how content creation, like around writing. What are some other industries you can really see being affected by ai?
1 (20m 57s):
You know, let's ac ask chat G P t rather than give my opinion what industries will be changed by artificial intelligence. I'm just gonna ask that the question right up and the answer is gonna start typing out in less than five seconds as it scours the web Wow. To go. All right, let me, let me think about what this looks like here. Oh, it also kicked out the Shakespeare John Lee Dumas poem.
0 (21m 20s):
We'll end with that.
1 (21m 21s):
So one of the shortcomings actually of chat G p t is it is overloaded right now. Yeah, there are so many people that are using it. So while I'm refreshing and waiting for it to go, AI I believe is going to impact just about every industry that we can think of. Think about manufacturing, right? You know, you've got, you've got people that are designing the best way to manufacture a product. What does this assembly line look like? What type of materials do I need to use? AI can shortcut a lot of those processes and help the people that would otherwise be paid to determine how that factory should operate.
1 (22m 3s):
Guess what? They're, they're gonna be outta business. They're not gonna need them because AI's gonna tell them coding. If you are writing code for anything, whatever you're producing, AI now can write code for you. So if you're a JavaScript programmer, guess what? You don't necessarily need to write everything by hand anymore because AI will do it. Healthcare, it's great industry AI can be used to, to analyze and diagnose and treat, right? So we can look at medical images and go, oh, I see what's wrong with this person. Transportation, self-driving, cars are coming, right?
1 (22m 43s):
Drones are coming. The way we think about transportation is completely gonna change. If you're in retail, AI can handle inventory management, you know much better than we can. We have so much problems with shrinkage. AI can, can help you do that in education. I think John is gonna be one of the biggest ones because now you can have a personalized learning experience, right? So AI can create tutors that are specialized to individuals' needs. And so teachers are gonna be able to, you know, help put their students in silos a little better to determine exactly what each one needs.
1 (23m 22s):
Again, this is not exhaustive, this is just the tip of the iceberg,
0 (23m 28s):
The tip of the Iceberg Fire Nation. And again, by the time this actually even comes out, it's not gonna be that long from when we're chatting, but there's gonna be some massive improvement thing cuz this is an exponential curve and it is absolutely insane. So Joel, let's take this home. If that response from chat g d has come up, we can hit that. But otherwise, what's that Shakespearean poem
1 (23m 51s):
Here? Well, you, what you don't know is I just used that response to answer that question. Oh,
0 (23m 56s):
You did? Oh, I
1 (23m 57s):
Know it came up. See you. You didn't even know. Yeah, it just sounded like I knew exactly what I was talking
0 (24m 0s):
About. Yeah, I thought it was re you were like refreshing. Which actually made me think that it's really fascinating that what I was kind of foreseeing when you were talking about how it's kind of, you know, clogged up right now, just like how everybody used to back in the day, you know, we used to share servers for our website and sometimes our websites would get slow and stuff. There's gonna be a future where you can buy a premium where you know you're gonna have like a dedicated chat G B T channel that's gonna be instant for you if you're willing to pay that. That's kind of, I think, where it's gonna be going.
1 (24m 28s):
I, I do have the Shakespearean poem, but I wanna point out the tool that was used at the beginning when you first heard my voice, I input the text for that into a, a project called resemble.ai. And what I did with resemble is I read about a hundred sentences that they asked me to read. So I fed it, my voice, and then I said, okay, now that you've got my voice, read this text. Right?
