[1:16] – Jarred shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
- People who have made a big mistake in their life are afraid of talking about what they did wrong. The best people are those who have been punched in the gut because they learned from it and they have grit.

- He used to write scripts in college for a lazy producer on MTV. After college, he was hired by MTV and did a bunch of shows in Times Square.
- Over the course of 18-20 years, he was a traditional investment banker and created different types of businesses and asset classes that didn’t exist prior.
[3:45] – What does it mean for a business to be counter-cyclical?
- When things are good, most companies perform well. When we go into a recession, people have needs and are driven by those needs – a demand for other sorts of businesses.
- People going to thrift stores more to save money is an example of a counter cyclical business.
