Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: How ADHD can Hinder and Help Entrepreneurs
[1:24] – Dave shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
- Many people say success is measured by money but he believes that success is measured by the relationship that you have in your life.
[2:12] – Dave tells more about the statistics that undiagnosed and untreated ADHD can reduce life expectancy by up to 13 years.
- That statistics is from Dr. Russel Barkley seen on Wise Squirrels site. It means that people who have ADHD that are undiagnosed and untreated are not fully aware of their risk to addiction, obesity due to excessive consumption and other comorbidities such as anxiety and depression which can lead to suicide.
- He learned that he had ADHD last year at 50. When he discovered it, it changes his passion and wanted to share his journey with others. The more people will get diagnosed and treated , the more its going to be better for the world.
[3:44] – Dave tells about why he believes that entrepreneurship and ADHD go hand in hand. Ikea, Virgin and Jet Blue are some known companies who have ADHD founders.

- There are 3 different types of ADHD that is base on the symptoms. One is Inattention and they have difficulty in focusing on a task, paying attention to details and remembering things. The second is Impulsive and they interrupt a lot of the time, impatient and risk-takers. The third one is the mixed type which is a combination of the 2 types.

- If you suspect that you have ADHD go and talk to a doctor.
- Its also important to know that ADHD is hereditary.
[20:19] – Dave shares how he learned that he has ADHD
- A person who has ADHD that he met in a Master Mind meeting texted and asked him if he has ADHD because he noticed the same symptoms with him. He told him to go and see a doctor to be diagnosed.
- His wife who is a teacher suspected that he has ADHD because of her experience with her students.

- The chances of developing ADHD is adulthood is not likely. If you suffered head trauma or experience lead poisoning the chances is low. If you have ADHD, you have it for all your life.
- Only a doctor can truly assess and diagnose a person to have ADHD and even their interpretation are open. There are assessments like the DSM 5 that doctors are using to diagnose if you have ADHD.
