You have a lot of exciting things on the horizon, and like me, you’re probably working out a few plans for bigger projects and evaluating how you’re going to make it all happen. This is where time management skills could really come in handy…
But not all of us have great time management skills – at least not ones we practice on a regular basis.
I’m here to change that.
Introducing, Ditch Busy!
I’m excited to introduce you to my newest podcast, Ditch Busy where we’re going to focus on your relationship with time management:
- Where it’s at right now
- How it makes you feel
- Where you aspire for your relationship to go
Ditch Busy isn’t about becoming flawless when it comes to time management.
It’s about making the mental shift and embracing the fact that you get to choose how you spend your time.
Sounds empowering, doesn’t it?
That’s because it is!
It’s time to take back control of your time, and make overwhelm a thing of the past.
Ditch Busy will show you how.
You can check out the podcast on Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
I’m excited to share my intro episode with you here so you know exactly what Ditch Busy is about, can determine quickly whether it’s for you, and also get a little background on how Ditch Busy was born.
Let’s dive in!
My intro episode to Ditch Busy
Hey what’s up my fellow Freedom Seekers!
Kate Erickson here and I’m so thrilled to be joining you for the intro episode of Ditch Busy!
I’ve been following The Podcast Journal over the past 50 days, which has helped us get to where we are right now: me and you hanging out as you tune in to this episode.
Where it all started…
I’d love to kick things off by taking us back in time… About six years ago something really awesome happened: I realized – and really for the first time embraced – my obsession with time management, details, systems, and planning.
It wasn’t easy… prior to my realization I thought all that stuff was only good for secretary work, or for a big office job: both of which I’d been running from like the plague. (Also, both of which had been the definition of my ‘professional life’ since I was 15.)
In 2013 I danced into my new role as ‘the engine’ behind Entrepreneurs On Fire – a podcast and business founded by my other half, John lee Dumas – and it was like I was ME more than ever before… spreadsheets, to-do lists, project plans, and all!
But it didn’t automatically make overwhelm a thing of the past for me.
I still felt it – and at that specific period in my life, perhaps more than ever.
But day by day I became better at setting more realistic expectations for myself. I improved my ability to get my priority straight, and instead of trying to focus on 5 things at once, focus on ONE thing at a time.
The funny thing is, when I started embracing the time management geek that I am, others started looking to me as an expert and coming to me for help:
Kate, how do I…
- Not feel so busy all the time?
- Avoid distractions and maximize productivity?
- Feel great about my to-do list (instead of dreading it)?
- Be more present in every moment?
- Better organize my life so I don’t constantly feel overwhelmed?
- Prioritize the things that are most important to me?
For six years I’ve been sharing everything I know around how to make overwhelm a thing of the past… how to take back control of your time and experience FREEDOM – whatever that means for you.
Embracing time management
Through our blog and my previous podcast, Kate’s Take, I’ve shared everything from:
- How we run our business in a way that affords us financial and lifestyle freedom, to
- How we became location independent (without even meaning to), and
- Even how I’ve set my work days up in order to accomplish the things that matter most to me in the business – so that I can enjoy all the other time doing what’s most meaningful and fulfilling for me in my life.
And that brings us to today and how this podcast came to be.
Ditch Busy was born through my passion for helping you take back control of your time – not just in your business, but in your life.
My goal with this podcast is to help you do just that: Ditch Busy and make overwhelm a thing of the past.
I want to help you find a place where time management doesn’t feel like a constant struggle, and where you’re focused on the present and enjoying the NOW without constantly feeling pulled in a million different directions.
Because you don’t have to constantly feel overwhelmed or like you have 10 competing priorities begging for your attention.
You can choose how you’re spending your time so intentionally that in any given moment, you feel fulfilled and in alignment with exactly how you want to be living your life.
What to Expect from Ditch Busy
And I’m going to help you do that with a new Ditch Busy episode twice per week: every Monday and every Thursday.
Every few weeks we’ll be focusing on a new topic – what I like to call a series – that will allow us to go deep and get you real results.
In each episode, I’m going to bring focus and meaning to one idea in under 10 minutes that will inspire, encourage, and push to you start thinking differently… to start approaching your most precious resource, time, in a way that makes you feel FREE.
Up first on Ditch Busy: a series that will help you discover your relationship with time management and uncover the actions you can take right now to finally make time management something that comes a little more naturally to you in your everyday life.
My fellow freedom seekers, if you’re ready to ditch busy and make overwhelm and think of the past, buckle up, and let’s do this!
I look forward to catching you in the next episode, and until then, here’s cheers to time freedom.
I’m so excited to be starting this new journey, and I hope you’ll come along to learn how you, too, can make overwhelm a thing of the past.
