I get a LOT of questions about my morning routine and what it consists of, so I’m here to share in detail just that.
After listening to potentially hundreds of Entrepreneurs On Fire interviews with today’s most successful entrepreneurs, you’ve probably noticed a theme: rituals, routines, and habits are among some of the most sacred and powerful things entrepreneurs point to when asked questions like, “What types of behaviors have helped you get to where you are today?”
I know my morning routine has absolutely helped me get to where I am today, and so hopefully through sharing this I can inspire you start a morning routine of your own.
Note that my morning routine is constantly evolving, so don’t feel like you have to have a certain number of things you do each morning – or even the same exact things every morning – in order to have a successful morning routine.
Your morning routine should shift and evolve as you do!
And most importantly, your morning routine should be YOURS!
Before I dive into the several steps I take every morning, here’s a video that walks you through my core 5.
My Morning Routine

1. It starts the night before
Sounds kind of silly, right? But it’s true: I set myself up for success by going to bed around 9:30pm.
2. Sleep well
Waking up feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead requires a great night’s sleep.
The Chili Pad helps massively (I have a warm core body temp), and I’m very conscious of having things like blackout curtains in my room.
You can find more great tips like this in Shawn Stevenson’s Sleep Smarter book.
3. Blocking light
Any computer time after 8pm (including reading my Kindle and looking at my iPhone) is done with the aid of my gamma glasses (blue light blockers) and the app flux.
4. Rise with the sun
Around 6am my app Sleep Cycle goes off, and I jump out of bed ready to seize the day!
How do I get up that early every morning? It has a lot to do with getting your circadian rhythm set. Doing this right can have a huge impact on your energy and motivation throughout the day.
And no snoozing! Why no snoozing? Read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod to find out.
6. Hydrate!
First thing I make sure to drink at least one 8-ounce glasses of water from my reverse osmosis machine, putting in trace mineral drops and apple cider vinegar.
7. Yoga time!
Then, I’m heading downstairs to my backyard for my morning yoga session.
If yoga isn’t your thing, you can also check out The 7 Minute Workout I created, which is more HIIT-focused. There’s also a video version if you like to follow along that way :)
8. Nutrient-packed smoothie
Once I’ve finished my yoga, it’s time for my daily nutrients and vitamins that make me feel great and help me sustain focus and energy throughout the morning.
9. Shower time!
Next I’m off to the shower – a great refresh and hydrate session and I’m ready to crush my day!
10. Meditation
After my refreshing shower, it’s time to get my meditation on!
I use a GREAT device called Muse that allows me to track the effectiveness of my meditation (I typically choose the 5-minute option).
11. Planning and gratitude
Then I write in my Freedom Journal, which helps me practice gratitude first thing, and then plan for a super productive day ahead.
12. Time for productivity!
Then, and only then, do I sit down and turn my computer on.
It’s typically around [7:30] or 8am at this point, and I’ll work throughout the rest of the morning using a pomodoro timer for 45 minutes of focused work followed by 10-minutes of rest.
What’s your morning routine?
Now that you know mine, I’d love to know yours!…
