“Your life is a reflection of the thoughts you consistently think.” ~ Noah St. John
A couple of years ago I found myself in a pretty tight spot. I had recently left my job in San Diego to head East to Maine. California to Maine?… I know – I couldn’t have picked a further destination, but it wasn’t without good reason. :)
Noah St. John’s New Release: The Book of Afformations
I arrived in Maine without a job purposefully. I was, for the first time in my life, taking my own leap into the entrepreneurial world, and I couldn’t have been more excited about it.
A fresh start without the chains of the corporate world holding me down – YES!
But after about five months of trying to jumpstart a business from scratch, I started feeling unaccomplished and dissatisfied. I didn’t feel like I was making enough progress to justify my lack of income, and continuing to tread the waters of what seemed like a never-ending ocean was beyond my strength.
I turned back to the same corporate world that had shamed me in my previous position, knowing that world would welcome me back with open arms.
But this time I would search until I found the position I’d always wanted – not just any one they were willing to give me.
I wanted to be an Account Executive at an advertising agency.
Finding my dream job – with confidence
I applied for several Advertising Executive positions over the next week, one of which appeared to be the exact position I’d been looking for.
With little agency experience under my belt and a resume that appeared to only boast me as “under qualified” for said position, I was up against some pretty high odds. Given my frustrations and sadness after having moved on from my entrepreneurial venture, I had every reason to continue to go on believing that I would never be able to land this position.
But the day I walked into that agency for my first interview, I walked in with confidence. I had been telling myself ever since I applied for this position that I was the perfect – no, wait – the absolute best candidate for it.
I was qualified and deserving of this position; I would be a great interviewee; I would answer all of the questions they shot at me without wavering.
After speaking with four of the five Partners at the agency, the HR Director and two of the other Account Executives I’d be working with, I was offered the position I’d always wanted.
Truly believing in yourself
To this day, I truly believe I was offered that position due to the positive, simple statements I continued to say to myself – and believe – about my capabilities.
Author Noah St. John just released his new book: The Book of Afformations: Discovering The Missing Piece to Abundant Health, Wealth, Love, and Happiness, and I can’t help but feel this book is exactly what I was missing back when I first arrived in Maine.
I had the right idea when I applied for that Account Executive position, but what about when I tried to start my own business just before that? Could I have changed the statements I was saying to myself and the questions I was asking myself?, and if yes, would that have changed the outcome?
How Afformations came to be
In his new book, Noah tells the story of how Afformations came to be.
It all stemmed from a question he asked himself one day back in 1997: Why are we trying to change our lives saying statements we don’t believe when the human mind responds automatically to something even more powerful?
In addition to my own, I also wanted to share just a few of the real-life stories from people around the world who have used Noah’s Afformations Method to change their lives in one way or another.
As Noah states, “Your life is a reflection of the thoughts you consistently think.”
From struggling insurance salesman to Agent of the Year
Brandon was a struggling insurance salesman who’d spent more than $40,000 on every self-help program under the sun without seeing results.
Using Afformations, he tripled his sales in 30 days. By the end of the year, his income had increased by 560% and he was named Agent of The Year.
From panic attacks to a great night’s sleep
Amy was having constant chest pains and panic attacks due to crushing debt and mounting financial pressure. Every day she considered suicide just to be free from the pain.
A friend told her about Noah’s Afformations System, and Amy read it. That very night, she slept well for the first time in nearly a year. The feelings of panic, anxiety, and overwhelm left her, and she never considered suicide again.
From obese to down 163 pounds
Cecelia had been called obese since childhood. She would gain and lose weight, but could never keep it off. Then a friend told her about Afformations. Cecelia read the book cover to cover, started following Noah’s system, and dropped 163 pounds.
From dodging creditors to a 6-figure earner
Susan from California had spent tens of thousands of dollars on self-help programs. But after a landslide destroyed her home, she burned through her savings, had no income, and was ducking calls from creditors.
She bought Noah’s Afformations System and started using them. Six months later, she has built a six-figure income, is an Emmy-nominated television producer, and is finishing her first book.
From painful divorce to finding the love of his life
George from Texas was, in his words, “working like a dog”, but his business was far from successful. His family life was also a mess, having just gone through a painful divorce. A friend told him about Afformations and he started using Noah’s methods.
Today George’s company brings in $6 million in revenues and he is happily married to the woman of his dreams.
From dissatisfied to working his dream job
Michael was very dissatisfied with his job. He often wondered why he bothered to come into work at all. Then he heard about Afformations and started using them.
A few weeks later, Michael approached his company’s CEO with a proposal for a new position. The proposal was accepted and Michael created his own dream job at more than twice his original salary.
What afformations can help you accomplish
As you can see, Afformations has done a lot of different things for a lot of different people who are in a lot of different situations. Afformations remind me that we are in control of our future, and we can create a reality for ourselves that is aligned with our strongest wants, desires and dreams.
