[1:11] – Mark shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.

[2:41] – Mark talks about his story.

Growing up, he moved all around the country. He and his family moved 13 times when he was in grade school and he was extremely shy as a kid. He had a lot of ambition but as he got older , he developed his personality and realized he wanted to create something bigger than himself.
He was managing jewelry stores at the time he met his mentor Jason and he had a great idea to start a business. He quit his job in 2008 back when the economy is bad. They raised money for a year with a lot of sacrifice because back then it was a lot harder to start a business because you need to raise a capital and find people to do your job. Nowadays, with the help of technology, it is a lot easier.

[5:07] – Mark talks about Growth, Success, and Perseverance.

It is a good thing to have a good team around you and not give up.
They started a rental real estate business. He did a little investment and bought his first home at the age of 20.
They experience fraud and lost about $40K to a payment processing company which was a big blow to them.
They continued and are now processing transactions up to $1 Billion but they know that there will be ups and downs and discouragements and when it does happen they just have to think what is their motivation why they are doing it.

[6:51] – Mark dives into small time, big dreams and unlocking rental riches and talks about the first moment he really understood there is riches in rentals.

Rental in real estate is a great way to start but technology is missing.
They found out that the big tools that big time companies are using are not available for small time entrepreneurs and they want to leverage that technology. They found Rentler and move in to Tenant Cloud.

The first thing that helped them was building technology on a product and they need to monetize it. He went to a trade show and realized that users are being monetized. He flipped the switch and started charging for their service which before was a free service. From that first year, they were able to hook $2M in revenue. It was a huge leap of faith and change their business model and pivot their focus.
