3 Value Bombs
1) No, doesn’t mean never. Understand that somebody might say no to you now, but it doesn’t mean that they’ll never say yes to you.
2) If there’s something that you feel passionate about, something that really intrigues you, get the information first. Make sure you are really equipped to try to enter whatever it is and go after it.
3) For most interviews, it’s not so much about the mental capabilities of handling this job, they wouldn’t bring you in unless they saw your resume. It comes down to other factors like if you are who they wanna work with or if you are enjoyable to be around, someone that they can trust.

Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: How to Use Your Nervousness to Your Advantage
[1:05] – Aaron shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
- A casting director will not bring an actor back to read a second time unless they really liked what they did. It really hurts actors when they start getting angry and frustrated with casting directors because they continue to audition with them and they don’t get booked. But that’s a great sign.
[3:35] – Using nervousness to our advantage.
- no matter what kind of business you have, you’re probably gonna be feeling nervous in certain situations.
- You don’t want other people to see your nervousness. And nervousness comes out in different ways for different people in different kinds of situations. Some people begin to talk very quickly. Some people have physical manifestations.
- Don’t try to squash your nervousness. Don’t get rid of it. Harness that energy.
[7:25] – A physical technique that will help lower our stress.
- Close your eyes, take your left hand and put it over your belly button. Take your right hand and put it over your heart. Take a deep breath and slowly let it out through your mouth.
[9:38] – A mental exercise that will help harness our energy the positive way.
- Understand the reality of how the industry works.
- They know that you can act, that you are skilled, and most of those who are auditioning give great auditions. But what people have to understand is that decisions aren’t just made on your acting skills. It comes out to and down to factors that we have absolutely no control over.
- Having a good time must be your goal because that’s something you can control. That can help to take some of the pressure off.

[17:31] – Being nervous is helpful.
- The key thing is you don’t want people to see it. If you are exposing yourself and people can see the nervousness, they’re probably not going to trust you because they can’t afford to take a risk in putting somebody in a very stressful situation being on a set with hundreds of crew.
- Contain your nervousness. If you go in there and you’re just presenting yourself as someone who wants to have a good time, that also allows the casting director to relax, because they can sense and they can smell desperation a mile away.
[19:36] – The best way to prepare for auditions or interviews.
- If you are auditioning for a show; watch the show, know all the characters, understand what is the dialogue like, are people more laid back or people cutting each other off, is it fast-paced, know the producers, the casting director and as you know more about the project you will feel more confident.
- For most interviews, it’s not so much about the mental capabilities of handling this job, they wouldn’t bring you in unless they saw your resume. It comes down to other factors like if you are who they wanna work with or if you are enjoyable to be around, someone that they can trust.
[23:57] – Aaron’s key take away and call to action.
- No, doesn’t mean never. Understand that somebody might say no to you now, but it doesn’t mean that they’ll never say yes to you.
- If there’s something that you feel passionate about, something that really intrigues you, get the information first. Make sure you are really equipped to try to enter whatever it is and go after it.
