- There is a way to work smarter, not harder, and still be able to have a life and enjoy it.
[2:20] – The messy truth.
- With being driven, your interests tend to move at a million miles an hour. We don’t stop and enjoy the journey.
- The messy truth of it all is that success can be great, but then, how are you taking care of yourself and your personal life?
[3:54] – Striking a balance between work and personal life.
- There’ a misconception that we can do it all, but we can’t do it all in one day. Thereare days that you get a lot done, but you miss your kid’s game.
- We need to give ourselves permission to let ourselves off the hook a little bit.
[5:23] – The early days of DryBar.
- There’s always room to improve. If you’re listening to what people are telling you, it’s going to be helpful.

[10:38] – Ally’s advise on taking risks to follow your passion.
- Not everybody is cutout for entrepreneurship. You have to be ok with losing it all, falling on your face, and failing.
- For an entrepreneur, if you just can’t stop thinking about it, then you must do it.
- Entrepreneurs get caught up in getting it perfect before starting.
- Don’t let ‘Perfect’ get in the way of progress.
- If you don’t just start and figure it out as you go, you never will.
[13:13] – The lessons Ally learned about vulnerability.
- Vulnerability is a superpower. If you can show that you don’t know all the answers and you can’t do everything on your own, it allows people to feel connected to you.
- Don’t be afraid to not look good if you don’t know the answer.
- Being more authentic and vulnerable is a better way to build a much stronger and more connected team.
[15:33] – The reason why Ally wrote her second book, The Messy Truth.
- It’s important to share the message and tell the full story. It’s full of things that worked and didn’t work.
- Opening up about personal things makes people feel that they are not alone. You can have all the success and still have bad situations.
[18:01] – Alli’s key takeaway and call to action.
- There’s no one way to achieve success, and there’s no one way to find happiness. There are so many paths to take. You just have to find the right one for you.
- Follow the joy and what makes you happy.
